Yes, it's official. Brain on strike. Tried to find way forward with script. Tried list of beats for upcoming scenes. Nuttin'.
My plan was with this draft to push ahead no matter how much suckiness was on the page - just to get to the end.
But THIS level of suckiness? Unprecedented before in the history of the world? Somewhat demoralising.
Could have something to do with my migraine yesterday. I do find my brain is scrambled for the rest of the day when I've had a migraine. This could be a hangover from that. I hope. Or I could just suck.

It's part of the creative process to occasionally think that you suck. As long as you don’t start believing it for extended periods of time, then I think the odd doubt-filled day is fine. It’s maybe even good.
On days when I look back over my writing and decide that it’s all bad… I never write. Because if I do then I’m not going to be writing in the same style as the rest of the script. Also I’ve noticed that if I’m feeling a lack of self esteem, then my writing becomes timid and boring. You have to have an ego to write, and egos are unstable creatures. Or at least they are in balanced human beings.
I expect your suckiness - if indeed it is real suckiness, and not just perceived suckiness – is to do with having had a migraine, and a couple of days off. In my observations of writers, that strange species, I have noticed that a few days or a week of 'I suck, my writing is rubbish, probably I should just give up', etc, is always followed by a period of smiles and 'It's going so well and I wrote 10 pages today' and so forth. So I am not particularly concerned for you, though, of course, still sympathetic. It's never a nice place to be, even though it will only be temporary.
To suck is human, To write the perfect first draft divine...
Wallow in the self-pity and move on.
PS: I suck too, so I know what I'm talking about...
Six pages today. And reached the end of the script. So yay!
Of course the script doesn't work at all, and I purely wanted to get to the end so I could do it all over again.
But not just yet. Today (and tomorrow, and probably until next week) I celebrate!
And the Fishie goes to... Sean!
An extra special Fishie as it's the first Fishie.
Congratulations! Fishie is on its way.
Note: There are plenty more Fishies in the sea for whenever anyone else completes a draft... I may even start a Hall of Fishie Fame (for any Fishie winners who don't mind being immortalised)
